Two bright minds from the University of Southampton, Samuel Aaron and Jamie Horsnell, have sparked a wave of excitement with their groundbreaking startup, mytender.io. The duo’s journey from dorm room discussions to securing a remarkable £250k investment from Fuel Ventures has set the entrepreneurial world abuzz.
It all started back in September 2023 when Samuel, a Business student at the university, and Jamie, an Economics student, joined forces to establish mytender.io. This innovative venture aims to revolutionize the tendering process in industries like construction and facilities management through its cutting-edge AI-driven bid writing platform.
“We were housemates, always bouncing around different business ideas,”
shared Jamie. Their partnership blossomed as they delved into the intricacies of AI technology during a Small Business Speed Launch weekend organized by the university’s Student Enterprise team. The event ignited a spark within them to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality.
Venturing beyond their academic pursuits, Samuel and Jamie embarked on an ambitious quest to introduce AI automation to businesses across various sectors. A chance encounter with a facilities management director who sought efficiency in bid writing paved the way for mytender.io’s evolution. Despite being novices in bid processes initially, their dedication to research and innovation propelled them forward.
Amidst lectures and exams, these driven individuals poured every ounce of energy into nurturing their startup. As graduation looms on the horizon, both Samuel and Jamie are steadfast in their commitment to steering mytender.io towards unprecedented success on a full-time basis post-graduation.
The fledgling company has already welcomed two interns and bolstered its workforce with a salesperson and full-time employee. With plans for expansion through Seed funding gaining momentum, mytender.io is eyeing international markets with great enthusiasm.
According to Jamie Horsnell, the recent injection of funds from Fuel Ventures marks a pivotal moment for their venture’s growth trajectory.
“This investment will fuel our efforts to expand our sales outreach and enhance our platform,”
he remarked optimistically. The goal? To position mytender.io as one of the leading bid writing software solutions globally.
In tandem with this exciting development comes Universities UK’s initiative ‘Unis start up the UK,’ shedding light on the profound impact of university-incubated startups like mytender.io. With thousands of new ventures taking flight annually under university guidance, there is palpable momentum driving entrepreneurial spirit across academia.
As mytender.io charts its course towards innovation and market leadership, Samuel Aaron and Jamie Horsnell embody the spirit of youthful ambition coupled with visionary foresight – poised to leave an indelible mark on the landscape of AI technology and business entrepreneurship.
